I love to teach! And I will be happy to teach you in a pottery workshop.
For the past 7 years I have taught at Southwestern Community College (SCC) in Bryson City, North Carolina. It began with a beginner wheel throwing class, blossomed into clay and computer classes and has steadied with clay classes for beginners through advanced, hand building and wheel throwing.
In 2010, my stand alone pottery became a teaching studio for tourists and locals. I would teach a two-hour class that included hand building and wheel throwing. In just 2 hours, students completed 3 items (to be fired and glazed by me at a later date). I no longer teach those types of classes at my shop because it is time to focus on my pots. Now I will schedule special classes throughout the year.
In 2013 I was invited to teach at the John C. Campbell Folk School and have since taught 3 clay classes in beautiful Brasstown, NC.
I do love to teach pottery. Teaching is in my blood (my mother was an English teacher). If you are interested in hosting a workshop with me at your studio, please contact me so we can work out the logistics.
I will be happy to teach handbuilding, wheel-throwing or my style of glaze decoration.
In the past I have conducted workshops at:
Sawmill Pottery, CT
Sawtooth School of Visual Arts, NC
