Pottery Shop – One year old and going strong!

Birthday Cake for Pincu Pottery

Pincu Pottery, in its current location, is One Year Old! Yipee! Cake by Home Sweet Home Delights in Bryson City, NC.

Sunday, May 1st, I invited guests to celebrate with me for Pincu Pottery’s 1st birthday. It was an incredible day!

My parents, Dan and Gloria, helped tremendously by purchasing a few much needed items in the big city of Asheville, where they live. Turns out the printer ink I use isn’t sold in Bryson City. Also, they bought food and other supplies. Both my parents and husband, Jeff, were there the entire day, helping to re-fill empty food trays, talk to folks and ring up purchases. They are incredibly supportive and I really appreciate their help and support!!!

More friends and students from Southwestern Community College showed up to celebrate than I expected, which was a sweet surprise. Thank you all! I was honored to have Laurie-Faye Long, accomplished potter, visit. She even bought something!

I posted a slideshow on my Facebook account; but for those of you not on Facebook, here is a small group of photos taken from Sunday’s Pottery Studio Birthday Party:

Maybe next week I will talk a bit about what it took to put this event together and the things I will try to do better next year. One thing I know I will do better is follow through on the door prizes! This year I just completely forgot! I have been overwhelmed preparing for this event as well as a fund raiser next weekend – and that door prize/raffle idea just got lost. So… if you did attend the party and want your ‘door prize,’ comment on this post!

Birthday/Anniversary Party Sunday!

Don’t forget about my birthday party this Sunday – Pincu Pottery turns One Year Old at this location! Come out to say ‘hello’ and have a piece of cake from Home Sweet Home Delights bakery in Bryson City! Other food and drink will make you happy as well as the potential to win a prize!

So come pop in anytime between noon and 4 pm this Sunday, May 1.

See you then!

Too Busy to Blog – Teaching and Making Pottery!!!

It has been way too long since I last blogged. Sorry. Here is what I have been up to:

Pincu Pottery is turning One Year Old!

May 1, 2011 - Celebrate with food, drink and a 2nds Sale!!!

May 1, 2011 from noon to 4 PM CELEBRATE PINCU POTTERY’S BIRTHDAY!! Food, drinks, door prizes and the annual 2nds Sale (not-so-perfect pots 25-50% off)

While planning the birthday, I have been helping to plan the annual fund raiser for the Swain County Community Foundation – Derby Fest – which will take place May 7 from 5 PM at Relia’s Garden at the Nantahala Outdoor Center. This will be a really FUN night out – and the money raised goes to local non-profits!  If you are in Bryson City that evening, please come buy a ticket at Pincu Pottery or the Cork & Bean.  Only $25 plus cash bar and silent auction – all to help Swain non-profits!!!

I also had a day to visit with my nephews, Elijah and Jonah, from NYC!  They came to Western North Carolina and played with clay for a few hours.  Boy did we have fun!!!

Lastly, I now have pottery in Asheville at the New Morning Gallery! This is a really fine, award-winning craft gallery in the Biltmore Village area of Asheville, North Carolina. I have visited this gallery for years and feel honored to have my pottery on display there. If you are in Asheville, please visit the New Morning Gallery and take a look at the fabulous pottery, furniture, jewelry and other crafts! And while you are there, buy a pot or two!!!

So… it has been a pretty busy month and I hope to begin blogging on a weekly basis again soon. I may not be back on track until after Derby Fest on May 7. Until then, if you want me to tackle a certain topic, please leave a comment or email me and I will be sure to try answer you as soon as I can!!!

Thanks for reading!
